Summer–Fall 2026 traffic restrictions in Austria

During the summer season and early fall, a number of new temporary traffic restrictions and bans on trucks will come into effect in Austria, which will impact drivers’ daily work.

From July 4 to August 29, every Saturday, traffic restrictions will be in place on certain roads in the Tyrol region of Austria for vehicles weighing more than 7.5 tons. The traffic restrictions will be in effect from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will apply on the following roads (in both directions):

  • • Loferer Road (B178) between the towns of Lofer and Wörgl;

  • • Ennstal Road (B320);

  • • Seefelder Road (B177);

  • • Fernpass Road (B179) between Nassereith and Biberwier;

  • • Achensee Road (B181);

  • • Brenner Road (B182).

From July 4 to September 5, every Saturday, vehicles weighing more than 7.5 tons will be prohibited from using the A4 East Expressway between the Schwechat interchange and the Nickelsdorf border. These restrictions will be in effect from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

On October 3, additional traffic restrictions for heavy vehicles will also apply on the A12 and A13 highways at the Brenner Pass. These restrictions will apply to traffic heading toward Germany.
