Traffic restrictions in Europe in April 2026

In April, due to seasonal festivities, drivers of heavy-weight vehicles will face changes to traffic restrictions and bans. In this article, we provide a list of dates when traffic restrictions for trucks will be in effect in Europe in April.

On all weekdays (April 1–3, 6–10, 13–17, 20–24, and 27–31)

Road bans will be in effect in Austria, Switzerland, and Liechtenstein. They will apply from midnight to 5 a.m. and from 10 p.m. to midnight.

On April 2, additional traffic restrictions will apply in Luxembourg from 11:30 p.m. to midnight, in Hungary from 10 p.m. to midnight, and in Austria from midnight to 5 a.m. and from 7 a.m. to midnight.

On April 3, additional traffic restrictions will apply in the following countries:

  • In Croatia, from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.
  • In the Czech Republic, from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m.
  • In Luxembourg, from midnight to 9:45 p.m.
  • In Germany, Hungary, and Slovakia, from midnight to 10 p.m.
  • In Italy and Slovenia, from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.
  • In Switzerland throughout the whole day.
  • In Austria, Switzerland, and Liechtenstein, throughout the whole day.
  • In Croatia, from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m.
  • In the Czech Republic, from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m.
  • In Luxembourg, from midnight to 9:45 p.m.
  • In Poland and Slovenia, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • In France, Germany, Hungary, and Slovakia, from midnight to 10 p.m.
  • In Italy, from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • In Austria, from midnight to 5 a.m. and from 7 a.m. to midnight.
  • In Bulgaria, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • In Greece, from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • In Romania, from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • In Italy, from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • In Bulgaria, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • In Croatia, from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.
  • In France and Hungary, from 10 p.m. to midnight.
  • In Greece, from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.
  • In Luxembourg, from 9:30 p.m. to midnight for vehicles heading toward France, and from 11:30 p.m. to midnight for vehicles heading toward Germany.
  • In Poland, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
  • In Romania, from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.
  • In Austria, from midnight to 5 a.m. and from 3 p.m. to midnight. On April 4 and 11, restrictions will apply from midnight to 5 a.m. and from 7 a.m. to midnight.
  • In Luxembourg, from 9:30 p.m. to midnight for vehicles heading toward France, and from 11:30 p.m. to midnight for vehicles heading toward Germany.
  • In Liechtenstein and Switzerland, from midnight to 5 a.m. and from 10 p.m. to midnight.
  • In France and Hungary, from 10 p.m. to midnight.

On April 6, the second day of Easter, additional traffic restrictions will apply in the following countries:

On April 7, additional traffic restrictions will apply in Italy from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

On April 9, additional traffic restrictions will apply in Bulgaria from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., in Greece from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m., and in Romania from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.

On April 10, additional traffic restrictions will apply:

On April 13, additional traffic restrictions will apply in Bulgaria from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., in Greece from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m., and in Romania from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

On April 14, additional traffic restrictions will be in effect in Greece from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

On April 27, additional traffic restrictions will be in effect in Slovenia from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

On April 30, additional traffic restrictions will apply in the following countries:

On Saturdays (April 4, 11, 18, and 25)

Road restrictions will apply in the following countries:

On April 4, Holy Saturday, additional traffic restrictions will apply in the following countries:

  • In Croatia, from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.
  • In Poland, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
  • In Italy, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • In Austria, Liechtenstein, and Switzerland throughout the whole day.
  • In France, Slovakia, Hungary, and Germany, from midnight to 10 p.m.
  • In the Czech Republic, from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m.
  • In Italy, from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • In Slovenia, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • In Luxembourg, from midnight to 9:45 p.m.
  • In Croatia from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m.
  • In France, Hungary, Liechtenstein, and Luxembourg, throughout the whole day.
  • In Poland, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • In Slovakia, from midnight to 10 p.m.

On April 11, additional traffic restrictions will apply in Romania from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.

On Sundays (April 4, 12, 19, and 26)

Road restrictions will apply in the following countries:

On April 4, Easter Sunday, additional traffic restrictions will apply in the following countries:

On April 12, additional traffic restrictions will be in effect in Romania from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
