Drivers travelling to the Netherlands this spring will face new traffic restrictions on the A16 highway, as the Drechttunnel Tunnel will be closed. These changes will primarily affect drivers heading to Rotterdam, Antwerp, or France.
As is the case every year, the Drechttunnel Tunnel will be closed for maintenance work—during the closure, drivers will only be able to use one lane of the tunnel, so they may encounter traffic jams and longer travel times.
The closures will take place on the following dates:
When travelling toward Breda:
From March 2 to March 3, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM.
From March 4 to March 5, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM.
From March 17 to March 18, from 10:30 PM to 5:00 AM.
From March 24 to March 25, from 9:00 PM to 1:00 AM.
From March 30 to March 31, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM.
On April 7, from 9:00 PM to midnight.
From April 29 to 30, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM.
From April 30 to May 1, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM.
When travelling toward Rotterdam:
From March 3 to 4, from 9 PM to 5 AM.
From March 5 to 6, from 9 PM to 5 AM.
From March 16 to 17, from 9 PM to 1 AM.
From April 1 to April 2, from 9 PM to 5 AM.
From April 2 to April 3, from 9 PM to 5 AM.
From April 8 to April 9, from 11 PM to 2 AM.
On April 17, from 9 PM to midnight.
Drivers can expect additional Tunnel closures in May, September, and December.
