On Saturday, October 3, Germany celebrates German Unity Day. For this reason, a 22-hour driving ban on trucks will be in effect throughout the country, which will also affect traffic in Austria and Luxembourg.
The truck ban will take effect at midnight and end at 10 p.m. It will apply to vehicles weighing more than 7.5 tons. It is important to note that the usual Sunday traffic restrictions for trucks will be in effect the following day; therefore, the ban on trucks will not apply for only 2 hours over the weekend, from 10 p.m. on October 3 to midnight on October 4.
The traffic restrictions on October 3 will also affect travelers in Austria and Luxembourg. On October 3, from midnight until 3 p.m., special traffic restrictions will apply to heavy vehicles weighing more than 7.5 tons. These restrictions will apply on the A12 and A13 highways for vehicles traveling toward Germany. In Luxembourg, traffic restrictions will also apply to trucks traveling toward Germany. They will be in effect from 11.30 p.m. on October 2 until 9.45 p.m. on October 3.
